I really don't know where to start, i have read this book from cover to cover and i still cannot put into words how it's made feel, but i'm gonna give it a bloody good go.
It has to be the biggest roller coaster of a ride i've ever been on reading a book. I've sat in starbucks and made a right arse of myself, laughing one minute out loud and then having to get a napkin the next because there are tears rolling down my face, and I mean i'm proper blubbering. It's intimate, heart warming, harrowing, hysterical and most of all you get Dawn French giving so much of herself away, emotionally and personally in only a way Dawn French can.
The letter she writes to Len starting on page 303, has to be the most wonderful thing ever put on paper (and i've read a lot of Austen so that is saying a lot). It just shows that there are perfect marriages. She is the most understanding and loyal person i think i've ever had the pleasure of not meeting, if only we all had a friend/partner like her the world would be a better place.
So i guess i really want to say thank you!! If you ever read this Dawn i really mean it, thank you for the most wonderfully funny and heart warming/breaking read of this modern age.....I will be reading it again.

I just wanted to somehow thank Dawn for this book and to say how sorry I was to hear that her wonderful Nan was burgled recently. I have been in Bristol hospital with my son for 2 months, this was his 33rd operation and his most serious. I read this book and I laughed out loud, I cried, I even sobbed in places but it kept me sane throughout my hospital stay. I live in Bodmin in Cornwall and my 3 children were born in Plymouth so I also had the local knowledge of the various places mentioned in the book which helped my visualize outside the hospital walls... I can't thank her enough for making a terrible time bearable for me, I'm even writing this on Christmas day! That's how much I appreciate it. Thanks Dawn it's a masterpeice. Mwaaaaaaaa xx
